William Marano has been a chauffeur and tour guide on O'ahu for four years, and has been learning about the history, culture, nature, and traditions of these magical islands since day one. An American citizen with more than ten years of living abroad in Europe, William has a heartfelt love for traveling to distant lands, and experiencing world culture. He loves sharing what he's learned - spreading the joy.

His passion for travel began after finishing university in 1995 when he went to Europe for the traditional two-month rail holiday. Although he had a railpass, he found that hitch-hiking gave him an experience much deeper than simply traveling with a map and guidebook. Along the way, he was given lifts by wonderfully friendly local people, who were very happy to host him in their homes, and show around, like a family friend.

The places he saw, the education he received about where he was, the secret little bistros, markets, neighborhoods, and galleries could never have been learned from any guidebook. It was the generosity and friendship of local people that made this experience so rich.

His life was changed forever. The local folk who picked him up became lifelong friends. There was no greater gift than this hospitality. William wanted to give this incredible experience to others - to be that friendly local.

Shortly after moving to Hawaii, William found the perfect job - Working as a chauffeur and tour guide for one of the island's most upscale and well-respected transportation services. Working with them until 2011, he knew that this was his life calling.

After four years honing his skills and growing his knowledge of the islands, William opened Koa Lani Private Tours to make a career of spreading the hospitality and friendship he received as a traveler to the visitors of Hawaii.
